Medical Insurance Information

The full-time faculty's medical plans for active employees and retirees (annuitants) are administered by the CalPERS Health Program. For health plan premium rates, refer to the applicable Regional Health Premium information. Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties are Region 3. Orange County is part of Region 2. The Public Employees' Medical & Hospital Care Act (PEMHCA) governs the CalPERS Health Program.

Reduced Workload Program (Pre-Retirement)

STRS and PERS allows for faculty to transition into retirement through a reduced workload program. While working a reduced workload, the employee retains their full health benefits and earns full STRS credit for each year of participation in the program. Eligible employees must apply no later than May 1 to begin participation in the following academic year. Contact Alexis Carter in Human Resources to begin the application process.
